Ms. Rubsam
graduated from Georgetown University in 1983 and received a
Master of Science in Pediatric Primary Care from Columbia University
in 1993. Her nursing experience includes staff nurse and shift
manager positions at Children's Hospital National Medical Center
and 10 years of nursing experience at Babies & Children's
Hospital. Prior to focusing her career on pediatric trauma,
Ms. Rubsam held several positions at Babies & Children's
Hospital including staff nurse in the Pediatric Recovery Room/Ambulatory
Surgery Unit and pediatric nurse practitioner/research nurse
clinician in the Mother/Infant Research Study. She is certified
as a pediatric nurse practitioner by the National Association
of Pediatric Nurse and Associates & Practitioners and is
also certified as a pediatric nurse by the American Nurses Association.
Ms.
Rubsam is an active fellow in the National Association of Pediatric
Nurse Associates & Practitioners and is currently membership
chair for their Greater New York Chapter. She was selected to
be a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society, and
has also served as faculty in the school nurse certification
program at The College of Mount Saint Vincent.
As
the Pediatric Trauma Coordinator at Babies & Children's
Hospital, Ms. Rubsam is responsible for the coordination of
care of all patients admitted to the Pediatric
Trauma Service and provides consultation and education on
pediatric trauma related issues to hospital staff, patients,
school nurses and nursing students. She frequently presents
educational programs on safety issues to school children and
parents groups.
